G-KKER first flew in May 2000 and was registered as a UL-450 Microlight aircraft. It was re-designated as a SPL-450 Fixed Wing Landplane (A Licence) in 2011 so as to enable hours to be logged on a JAR SEP Licence.
For pilots holding a microlight licence, the process is easily reversed by submission of LAA/MOD 10 Category Change Form.
A Weight Certificate and Noise Certificate are available if required. Other than limiting flap movement to the first 2 stages, no other modifications have been carried out. This is easily reversed.
The aircraft cruises comfortably at 85 to 90 Kts at 2300 rpm with a Jabiru 60"x38" propeller which was fitted by the previous owner for short grass strip operation (the standard propeller is 60"x40"). Fuel consumption over the last 80 hours has averaged 8.8 Litres per hour.
KKER's first engine achieved over 1,050 hours before being replaced by the current engine which had clocked up 250 hours in another Jabiru before a bad landing made the engine available to G-KKER.
Under PFA (LAA) supervision the engine was given a complete top end overhaul and a Permit Maintenance Release Certificate issued.
This engine (Serial No 22A 648) has the large cooling fins fitted but retains the small carburettor which is perfectly adequate for the engine. The valves have solid lifters and adjustable tappets.
The replacement engine has now clocked up a total of 600 hours and has never missed a beat.
The full height rudder modification was carried out in 2002.Undercarriage strengthening modifications iaw PFA letter 1 Jul 2004 have been incorporated
The aircraft is carpeted and fitted with grey leather upholstery, has a cabin heater and has always been hangered throughout its life.
